Water-resistant laminate has a core and joints that keep moisture out for a long time. The number of hours tells you how long a spill may sit without damage, provided the floor is laid properly.
It isn’t a bathroom floor: standing water under a shower or a leaking washing machine is different from a knocked-over glass. For kitchens and halls, 24 hours is plenty; 72 hours gives extra margin.
